1. What is Pilates?

Pilates is a system of exercise that will help improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture. Pilates improves core strength, while decreasing back, neck, and joint pain.

2. Who does Pilates benefit?

Pilates is beneficial to EVERYONE! Whether you are new to exercise or an elite athlete, Pilates will challenge any level of fitness.

3. Do I have to be really fit to be able to take a class?

No, all fitness levels are welcome to the classes. Your instructor will help modify the exercises to your ability level.

4. Is Pilates a workout just for women?

No! Pilates is great workout for men, and should be added to their workout routine. Athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, and PGA Tour have incorporated Pilates into their training routines. Athletes are conditioning and rehabilitating using Pilates regularly in their training programs.

5. Will Pilates hurt my knees or lower back?

Pilates is a low impact exercise and would be ideal for someone with joint pains.

6. Will Pilates help me lose weight?

Doing Pilates consistently will help tone your body, build strength, and lose weight.  Many clients notice more toning in muscles within the first couple of weeks!

7. How often can I do Pilates?

Starting out we recommend that you do 2-3 times per week, depending on your ability level.  As your strength increases over time, you will be able to increase your amount of workouts during the week.

8. Will Pilates interfere with my other workouts?

Pilates will be perfect to add into your training routine because it will help increase your flexibility, which helps prevent injuries. Pilates will also increase core strength, which will improve athletic movements.

9. What is a Pilates reformer?

A reformer is a flat carriage that rolls back and forth on wheels with springs that provide the level of resistance. There is an adjustable foot bar, and long straps with handles are attached to the top of the frame that can be used by the arms or legs.

10. How do I get started?

Before joining the Pilates classes, we have each client do a set of three one-hour private introduction classes with an instructor. The introductory sessions will help you get acquainted with the reformer machine and learn the proper form for each exercise. Contact us to schedule your first session today!
